Sandstone Manor Originals creator, Doug Mainse, has been working with wood and stone for over 30 years. Doug is a retired teacher with an educational background in Industrial Arts and Technology. A passion for working with wood led Doug to develop a mechanism for turning large blocks of wood on his lathe using native Eastern Ontario wood species including trees damaged in the Ice Storm of 1998. Doug fashions bowls and vases from small to exceptionally large, each unique and distinctive, revealing natures art to the eye of the beholder. His one of a kind large wooden bowls, vases and cement flower pots are perfect for homes, cottages, businesses and make excellent gifts!

His work is found throughout the Gananoque region, Eastern Ontario and beyond. Some of Doug’s work is on display at the Arthur Child Heritage Museum – Canadiana Gift Shop in Gananoque, Ontario

All of the bowls in the current inventory are 18” to 48” diameter. Some are for hanging on the wall, some have a food safe finish for food and some are highly decorative and are suitable for dry items only.

Please contact Doug and arrange a time for viewing his turnings.
